By Women for Women Holds Fifth Annual Breast Cancer Golf Outing

(Madison, Wis.) By Women For Women hosted its fifth annual golf outing to benefit the Madison Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Legend at Bergamont in Oregon, WI.
The outing sold out for the fifth consecutive year with 144 women golfers, 20 volunteers, and cash or prize donations from over 200 local businesses. After a free golf clinic and quick lunch, the golfers rolled out to the greens to the music of a local bagpiper for eighteen holes of golf, with several treats and prizes along the way. This year, Culvers on Todd Drive in Madison, Wis. is providing a lemon ice bar at the turn.
The outing wrapped up with a champagne toast and check presentation, followed by dinner, designer cake and ice cream, and a silent auction.
Led by Axley Brynelson Attorneys Becky Orvick and Melissa Warner, By Women For Women donated $145,000 over the past four years to the Madison Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The nonprofit organization uses donations to help low income women afford mammograms, receive preventative care and give women a place to come when they receive a breast cancer diagnosis.
“Our favorite part of the event was presenting the check to the Komen Foundation in front of a room full of women who made it happen,” says Warner.
