Axley Attorney Patrick Fiedler joined the State Bar of Wisconsin when he graduated from Marquette Law School in 1980. Over the past 31 years, Fiedler worked in the private and various capacities of the public sector, including as a Dane County Circuit Court Judge for 18 years, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, US Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, Waukesha County Assistant District Attorney and a private practice attorney.
Fiedler’s experience as both a trial lawyer and a judge lends a fresh perspective to the State Bar of Wisconsin as a presidential nominee. As State Bar of Wisconsin President, he wants to make the bar relevant to and resourceful for its members.
Fiedler strongly believes that the State Bar of Wisconsin should help members adapt to changes in the law, and teach them how to effectively utilize social media and other technology to enhance and market their practices.
As Wisconsin faces a challenging economy, his platform extends beyond making the State Bar of Wisconsin relevant and resourceful to strengthening fiscal oversight of the organization.
Fiedler also wants to lead the State Bar of Wisconsin in:
Improving communications with members by considering all points of view, and inviting input from government lawyers and others both in and out of private practice
Making the State Bar of Wisconsin more effective in the legislative process
Preventing unauthorized practice of law
Balancing the organization’s budget with no increase in dues
Continuously improving member services and benefits to reflect changes in the law and technology
