Peter Conrad is an attorney and a member of the Business, Construction & Transportation and Litigation Practice Groups. His practice focuses on land development and municipal matters related to land use, construction, real estate, environmental and municipal law.
Mr. Conrad brings over ten years of experience with him in matters relating to land use planning and regulation. Prior to joining Axley, he served as a water management specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and as a county zoning administrator. In these positions Mr. Conrad was responsible for overseeing programs ranging from shoreland permitting to general zoning, shoreland and floodplain management, erosion control, storm water, subdivision review and land use planning.
Mr. Conrad received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received the UW Law School/State Bar Academic Achievement Award for excellence in course work in both Real Estate Transactions and Taxation of Real Estate. Mr. Conrad also received the Dean's Academic Achievement Award.
Mr. Conrad is admitted to practice law in the state courts of Wisconsin and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.
Significant Representations:
- Successfully represented a Drainage District on an appeal to overturn a petition that would have dissolved the District
- Successfully represented a village to overturn a Department of Natural Resources decision to deny sewer service
- Regularly represents property owners in obtaining municipal approvals and handling zoning and subdivision appeals
- Represented aggregate producers on siting new locations
- Regularly represents landowners in dealing with the DNR and local governments on shoreland, wetland and Chapter 30 issues
- Represents owners, design professionals and contractors in construction defect claims
