Attorney James Thorpe is of counsel to the firm and is now retired. His practice focused on transactional, real estate, and business law.
Prior to joining Axley, Attorney Thorpe worked at two law firms in Janesville, Wisconsin including Carney Thorpe, LLC, where he aided businesses and real estate developers. Notably, during the inception of Industrial Revenue Bonds (IRBs), he facilitated numerous IRBs for clients, primarily within Southern Wisconsin. His portfolio includes involvement in labor disputes, industrial projects, and general real estate development endeavors.
Attorney Thorpe deeply engaged with various local non-profit organizations over the years, such as the Janesville Community Day Care Center, KANDU Industries, the Rock County Humane Society, and multiple arts initiatives including Janesville Presents! and Bower City Theatre Company. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of a local performing arts center, which materialized as the Janesville Performing Arts Center (JPAC).
