Attorney Brian Mullins Honored with Lifetime Achievement in Construction Award

abril 23, 2018

The University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering recognized Attorney Brian Mullins with a Lifetime Achievement in Construction Award last week. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have impacted the engineering/construction field and have shown interest in students and future leaders of the industry. Before attending law school, Attorney Mullins graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Early in his legal career, Attorney Mullins and Attorney Bob Smith started the Midwest office of construction law firm, Wickwire Gavin. Upon joining Axley, Attorney Mullins helped co-found Axley’s Construction Practice Group.

Over the course of his career, Attorney Mullins worked on some of the largest projects in Wisconsin including the Milwaukee Zoo Interchange and was an integral part of the growth of construction law across the state. He was a founding member of the Construction and Public Contract Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin, served on the Board of Directors for the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin, Central Madison Business Improvement District, and Wisconsin Transporation Builders Association. His influence did not go unnoticed, as he was named to the International Who’s Who of Construction Lawyers and was named «Lawyer of the Year» by Best Lawyers® 6 of the last 7 years.

Attorney Mullins was quick to pay his experience forward to the next generation of engineers as a lecturer in the College of Engineering and through the Mullins Scholarship program for Civil and Environmental Engineers.

On February 17, 2018, Attorney Mullins lost his battle with cancer; however, his legacy and impact will live on for decades to come. The Lifetime Achievement Award was accepted by Brian’s wife Pam along with the rest of his family and Axley colleagues.
