(Madison, Wis.) – Axley Attorney Laura Peck was honored at Wisconsin Law Journal’s 2014 Women in the Law event last Thursday, noting her excellence in the legal field, as well as her commitment to creating opportunities for women to succeed within the profession.
Peck ranks among the top, most influential female attorneys in the state whose accomplishments and initiatives have not only encouraged women to pursue legal careers, but have allowed them to enter into various types of jobs historically closed off to women.
“Ever since I became a founding member of WCREW – an organization dedicated to opening doors for women in the real estate industry – my mission has been mentoring a new generation of women in finance, law and real estate,” said Peck. “I am honored to receive this award, and I look forward to discovering new ways I can help women flourish in legal professions.”
With over two decades of experience, Peck is proficient in finance and complex business transactions. She has represented small and large banks, for-profit and non-profit corporations, insurance companies and businesses of all sizes in matters involving commercial lending; the acquisition, financing, leasing, management and disposition of real estate assets; and the workout and resolution of distressed debt. Prior to joining Axley in 2005, Peck served as General Counsel for National Guardian Life Insurance Company, as well as one of many counsel for CIGNA, a global health services organization.
The event took place at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. Honorees will be featured in an upcoming, special Wisconsin Law Journal publication dedicated to the award.
