Madison, WI – After four years of service to the firm, former Managing Partner Gregory Collins transitioned the role to Attorney Judd Genda as of January 1, 2024.
Attorney Collins, the firm’s seventh managing partner, is a business and real estate attorney with the firm. He will remain on the firm’s Management Team after stepping down as Managing Partner. “I have worked with Attorney Genda on the Firm Management Team for several years and have every confidence he will be an excellent Managing Partner,” said Attorney Collins. “He understands the business of law, our clients, and our people, and I look forward to the ideas and leadership he will bring to Axley in 2024.”
Attorney Genda, a 26-year veteran of the firm, is a business and telecommunications attorney. He has served on the firm’s Management Team and Executive Committee for many years. “As I begin my term, I would like to thank Attorney Collins for his service over the past four years,” said Attorney Genda. “With the COVID-19 pandemic, Attorney Collins faced more challenges than possibly any Managing Partner before him. His unwavering guidance and dedication to the firm was invaluable, and we are stronger because of his leadership.”
In addition, Axley is excited to announce the advancement of Attorneys Tracy Murn and Thomas Kolpien to Partners in the firm. “We are very happy to introduce Attorneys Murn and Kolpien into the partnership,” said Attorney Genda. “They are not only talented lawyers, but also remarkable people.”
Attorney Murn is an attorney in Axley’s Waukesha office and focuses her practice primarily on commercial real estate, business, and estate and succession planning, as well as catering to the unique legal needs of family-owned businesses. Her other areas of practice, construction law, land use, riparian rights, and general business practice, allow her to serve clients with a full 360-degree approach to asset protection, business strategy and conveyance of real estate. Attorney Murn was named to the Wisconsin Super Lawyers Rising Stars List for 2020-2023 and was named an Up and Coming Lawyer by the Wisconsin Law Journal in 2021. Attorney Murn also represents the Town of Merton and Oconomowoc and greatly enjoys being involved in the communities through this role.
Attorney Kolpien is an attorney in Axley’s Janesville office and focuses his practice on family law and mediation, estate planning, probate, elder law, business, banking, and a variety of general civil litigation matters. He recently served as Rock County Family Court Commissioner for nearly eight years, presiding over all actions affecting the family. Attorney Kolpien completed the Supreme Court Office of Judicial Education Faculty Workshop and is a Board Member of NAMI – Rock County (National Alliance for Mental Illness) and Family Services – Rock County.
