Ms. Selner grew up on her family’s dairy farm in northeast Wisconsin. Selner’s tax experience includes an internship with the Office of Chief Counsel, U.S. Department of the Treasury. In this role, Ms. Selner worked alongside Treasury Department lawyers representing the Internal Revenue Service in federal tax law controversies. Her work included advising revenue agents, negotiating with taxpayers, and preparing cases for tax court. Ms. Selner further developed her tax experience by serving as a research assistant at Marquette University Law School. In this position, Ms. Selner assisted a Marquette Law faculty member in the development of a revised textbook on federal estate and gift taxation, identifying changes under the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, and recent case law.

In addition, Ms. Selner’s experience includes working as a summer associate with a prominent firm in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she focused on business law and estate planning. Ms. Selner also completed a judicial internship with the Honorable William C. Griesbach of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

During her time at Marquette University Law School, Selner served as an associate editor for the Marquette Law Review and was the Student Liaison to the Real Property, Probate & Trust Section of the Wisconsin State Bar.

Before pursing her law degree, Selner spent a significant amount of time cultivating her understanding of Wisconsin-based agriculture businesses.
